If there’s anything that I want to keep from 2017, is long plated skirts. I believe that this item that just recently came back from the grave is very versatile, you can use it pretty much during any season, you can dress it up or make it as casual as you wish.
The easiest way to wear these type of skirts if to pair it with a neutral color top (black or white), throw on a pair of stilettos and you’re set. But for this particular outfit I wanted to try something different. To start off I took a skirt that has different shades of blue on it and I decided to pair it with a bodysuit of a more vibrant color, which is yellow and a classic Chanel bag. To dress it up I picked my current favorite heels from Zara and since it was chilly outside I just threw on a black blazer. I still wanted to jazz it up a little so I picked my Melodrama hat, and yes, that is merchandise from Lorde’s latest album.
I must give major credit to the heels, this is the first pair of “high heels sock-style” that I lay my hands on and I can’t get enough of them. When I first saw them I thought they looked so pretty but would most likely be very painful to walk in… Plot twist, the first time I wore them was on a formal event that lasted around 8 hours and your girl (aka me), totally nailed it. I mean, they’re definitely not sneakers but compared to all the other thin heeled shoes I own, this pair totally passed the test.
You might recognize this yellow/orangy body suit from my 2017 favorites post. I just noticed that I tend to buy lots of statement pieces, which are so much harder to mix and match in different outfits than basic pieces, so it’s always nice when I spot a simple shirt or body suit like this one, that yet, seems to have lots of personality. Actually, one of my resolutions for 2018 is to buy less statement pieces and focus on easy-to-layer basics.
The best thing about body suits is that they will stay in place no matter what and you can make them work with any type of bottoms, like skinny jeans or shorts. Even though, some people might regret wearing them when they have to use the restroom, to me, they’re a must have.
The black blazer gave me major Balmain vibes, which I thought was a very nice addition to my wardrobe. I think it will also look très chic with black skinny jeans and sneakers.
My new obsession are my round sunglasses, which I fell in love with the moment I lay eyes on them, you could say it was love at first sight 😉
I kept the accessories very simple because there was already so much going on, so I’m just wearing my favorite rings and decided to go earrings free.
After running around in those super cute heels looking for the perfect locations to shoot these pictures, my talented oh-so talented photographer and friend, Cristy and I, found a cute little place to have a drink and chat for a few minutes, which turned into hours. Time flies by when you’re into a good conversation, right? I’m still laughing about how we kept changing tables to find the spot that had the best light to shoot some photos inside the bistro, major credits to the waiters that had no problem taking our drinks to whichever place we moved next. I had the biggest cup of matcha latte that I’ve seen on my life and Cristy had a super healthy green juice.
